How To Choose the Right PMU Artist: Things to Consider

Making the choice to get Permanent Makeup is a big step!

We’re talking about YOUR FACE!

There are somethings in life that shouldn’t be compromised on, and Permanent Makeup is at the top of that list! Choosing a good artist with quality work, great reviews and tons of experience is super important!

So, once you’ve decided that you want to get permanent makeup done, the next question is which artist do you choose to get it from….How do you know you’re choosing the artist that’s right for you??

There are a lot of things to consider when choosing a PMU artist & that’s not something you want to just throw some random names into a bowl and pick out one lucky winner for you to work with. That’s how disaster stories are made (some of which I’ve had to pleasure to fix…check out some stories of that in my client reviews).

Two of the biggest factors people usually will take into consideration when looking for a permanent makeup artist are cost and location. But in reality, neither of these things should be the deciding factors for making a decision on choosing an artist to perform PMU or microblading for you.

Let’s remember after all that this is a tattoo on your face.

You do not want to go with the cheapest and easiest option available to you right off the bat. Take your time, gather up multiple different options of artists you have found that you like and that have an actual portfolio for you to peruse.

Here are some key points to keep in mind when you are choosing the best PMU tattoo artist for you:

  • Does this artist have a lot of experience in microblading and permanent makeup?

  • Do they seem to know what they are talking about or just throwing PMU jargon together to seem like they are legit?

  • What do their client’s reviews say about the artist? (You can find my client reviews here)

  • Is the artist insured?

  • Do they have a portfolio with pictures of actual work they have done and not just copy/paste “examples from the internet”?

  • Are they actually licensed to provide permanent makeup services?

  • When you ask them questions are they willing to answer your questions or do they try to brush them off?

  • I know I already said this one before but what are the prices? If they offer super cheap services that means that they are using super cheap products…on your face…

  • I’ll add location to this list because if you’ve found an artist you like but they don’t live near you or in another state entirely, is working with this artist worth the extra expenses if it means getting the results you want?

Now that you’ve had some time to go through this list, I hope we have helped make choosing the artists that are on your list and knowing how to narrow down to your top picks a little easier.

If I happen to be on that list, you can go here find out more about me! My studio is Salt Lake Health Department approved & is located in West Jordan, Utah.
