Should I Get My Permanent Makeup Removed?

Hello! Today I am going to be talking with you about when you should get your permanent makeup (PMU for short) removed.

In my previous blog posts, I spoke on some of the benefits to why you should get permanent makeup done like your brows and eyeliner by an expert.

However, there are times where a person may be seeking to have removal services done by a trained & certified expert.

People might want to have these removals and corrections done because the work they originally had done wasn’t to their liking. Sometimes just some color correction is needed but other times removal or lightening is necessary to change their permanent makeup from good to great.

Or, every once in a while, someone just wasn’t satisfied with the permanent brows or eyeliner they had done and they decide they want them completely removed.

While these situations can be rare, they do happen from time to time.

But don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place.

So, the nice thing is that technically speaking PMU doesn’t actually last forever and will naturally fade away with time, about 2 years or so, give or take a little bit (PMUHub, 2021). But there is no guarantee that the color will completely fade in 2 years.

The nicer thing though is that you can have permanent makeup safely removed before then! All you need is to book an appointment with a trusted removal and color correction expert who is Li-FT certified. If you think that the PMU you had done changed the shape of your face in an unflattering way or that the color added in is way too saturated for your liking, I am here to tell you not to worry, because it can be removed or lightened.

How exactly is this process done for color correction and removal of permanent makeup? Well, I’m glad you asked. It’s done by either laser removal, saline removal, or glycolic acid removal (PMUHub, 2021).

However, of these three proven methods, I prefer to work with saline removal. All three methods typically require multiple sessions to achieve the results you want. While the other two can be effective and are sometimes used in the world of PMU,  saline is the best & safest route to go. The reason is because there are just certain pigments within permanent makeup that don’t really respond too nicely to the other removal methods or the risk of scarring is higher. In these situations, it is simply better and safer to go with using a saline removal.

Over multiple sessions, the saline will be expertly worked into the areas of permanent makeup you want to be removed or lightened. If you are unsure about this process and need some additional reassurance, feel free to send me a message here and you can read through some of my reviews to hear other people’s success stories on their own removals and color corrections:

Here’s one of my more recent reviews word for word on this exact process...

“She was so great. I was impressed with her knowledge base in being able to tell my completion was cool tones and knowing how to use the correct color to balance and result in a less ashy powder brow. We actually did removal process. I wish the first time I got my brows done,  that it would have been with someone who knew more about colors to use with the powderfill”.
